An explosive device found inside the garage of a St. Petersburg home prompted a bomb squad response, temporary evacuations, and a controlled detonation after it was deemed too unstable to move.According to the St. Petersburg Pol ice Department (SPPD), the device was discovered after a homeowner died at a residence in the 7200 block of Eighth Street N. Officers requested assistance from the Tampa Bomb Squad, which determined the device could not be transported safely.The bomb squad buried the device in the backyard and detonated it to render it safe.
