San Diego Police investigating homicide in Point Loma, prompting road closures

The San Diego Police Department is investigating a homicide in Point Loma after a body was found on the roadway on Thursday.
The incident was reported on the 4400 block of Nimitz Blvd. around 1:50 a.m. when a driver spotted a body in the center median and called 911, police said.
Once officer
s arrived at the scene, they found a man in the center median and took him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, said SDPD Sgt. David Garren.
Due to the injuries the man sustained, it is being investigated as a homicide, as his injuries are not consistent with being hit with a car. Sgt. Garren said this appears to be a targeted attack and not random.
San Diego Police Homicide detectives are at the scene conducting an investigation, and the following road closures are expected to last several hours:
Nimitz Blvd. will be shut down in both directions between West Point Loma Blvd. and Tennyson St., including the Nimitz Blvd. on-ramp from Famosa Blvd.
