World Cup Round of 32 ends Friday with Dallas Stadium, wrapping up 3game days
Jul 02, 2026
The 2026 FIFA World Cup moves to the Round of 16 on Saturday, but first the Round of 32 wraps up at Dallas Stadium.
Friday is the final three-game day of the tournament. First is Australia versus Egypt at Dallas Stadium at 1 p.m. It is expected to bring an additional wave of international visitor
s into the region during the busy July Fourth holiday weekend.
Australia has not scored in its last two World Cup games, after opening the tournament with a surprise 2-0 win over Turkiye, but it was still enough to advance after a 0-0 draw with Paraguay, which also advanced.
Egypt is led by former English Premier League star Mohamed Salah. Their supporters plan to march through Arlington Friday morning, similar to what Sweden fans did before their game against Japan.
Supporters will gather around 8:30 a.m. around the Texas Golden Boot at the intersection of Cowboys Way and Stadium Drive.
Australia supporters are planning to attend the Thursday, July 2, Texas Rangers game against the Detroit Tigers.
The early evening game is Argentina versus Cabo Verde. Argentina dominated their group on the back of Lionel Messi’s 6 goals. Messi became the first player to score in 7 straight World Cup games while extending his goals record.
Cabo Verde is the smallest country in the knockouts. They shocked Spain in their tournament opener with a 0-0 draw. They followed that up with an equally shocking 2-2 draw against Uruguay, meaning the tiny island nation played at the level of two previous tournament champions. They wrapped up group play with a 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia to finish second behind Spain. Argentina is the heavy favorite, but Cabo Verde has proven they cannot be counted out.
Argentina-Cabo Verde kicks off at 5 p.m. in Miami.
Colombia-Ghana is at 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 3. Colombia won Group K with a draw against Portugal; they had already defeated Uzbekistan and DR Congo.
Colombia is led by Bayern Munich star Luis Diaz.
Ghana is one of 9 African nations to advance to the knockout rounds; only Tunisia failed to make it out of the group stage. The previous record was two.
However, only Morocco has won their Round of 32 game, against the Netherlands. Côte d’Ivoire, Congo, Senegal, and South Africa have all been eliminated, many of them in heartbreaking fashion.
Algeria, Cabo Verde and Ghana are yet to play, but are all considered underdogs in their current matchups.
There will be two games per day moving forward until the Quarterfinals begin on Thursday, July 9.
