SEPTA rolling out new Regional Rail schedules on Sunday
Jul 02, 2026
Before you head out the door this weekend, double-check your train times. SEPTA is rolling out new Regional Rail schedules starting Sunday, July 5.
Officials said that the new schedules will introduce notable improvements, helping the agency to provide more reliable service and increase capacity
to major destinations.
Additionally, SEPTA continues to increase the number of train cars available for service; trains will be longer, providing more space for riders.
“Our crews are working hard to maintain our aging infrastructure and vehicles until they can be replaced,” SEPTA General Manager Scott A. Sauer said. “Last month, we reached a major milestone with 98% of Regional Rail train cars available for service, which means our riders are experiencing very minimal crowding and pass-up issues.”
SEPTA said missed Regional Rail trips dropped to 1% in May, compared with 7.5% last October.
Among the changes taking effect July 5:
• Riders will notice longer trains and more vehicles available, with more consistent fourcar sets on lines with the highest ridership.
• The new Regional Rail schedules include more consistent pairings between lines on different ends of the network. This makes the system easier to navigate and means that delays, when they occur, are less likely to have wide impacts. • Express service on the Lansdale/Doylestown Line and Media/Wawa Line has beensimplified. That means an express train will always make the same stops. These changesallow for more predictable service.
• Trains on the Wayne Junction to Glenside corridor have been adjusted to provide better spacing between trains. This helps prevent trains from bunching together, which can cause delays.
• Penn Medicine weekday trips increase from 900 to 975.
The agency said it updates its Regional Rail schedules four times per year in hopes of improving reliability and adjusting for capital projects and infrastructure improvements.
