In San Francisco, a free World Cup watch party at Thrive City outside of Chase Center drew a capacity crowd Wednesday. Thousands packed thrive city to watch the U.S. take on Bosnia-Herzegovina on the big screen. Most of the crowd was cheering for team USA, but there were a handful of Bosnia-H erzegovina supporters there, too. Many fans said they hoped to see the match in person, but ticket prices kept them away. “I’m so excited to watch the game here. I didn’t get to the stadium, but I’m here with everybody,” Oakland resident Fernando Lorenzo said. the party drew people from across the Bay Area and visitors from overseas, including a group vacationing from Ireland. These World Cup watch parties at Thrive City have been so popular, they’ve now been extended through the rest of the tournament, giving fans a place to gather through July 19.
