Ochsner Health has launched a new video series and podcast designed to explain medical innovations and emerging healthcare technologies through conversations between physicians and award-winning New Orleans musician Robin Barnes.
The series, called “Decoded,” debuted this week and is available on YouTube, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Ochsner said the program is intended to make complex medical topics more accessible by pairing physicians and specialists with Barnes, who serves as host.
According to Ochsner, each episode explores the science behind a medical treatment, the technology involved and what it means for patients.
The current lineup includes discussions on menopause and women’s wellness, robotic kidney transplants, women’s heart health, robotic lung cancer surgery and neuro-oncology.
Among the featured physicians are Dr. Elizabeth Lapeyre, who discusses menopause and women’s health; transplant surgeons Dr. Dennis Sonnier Jr. and Dr. Emily Bugeaud on robotic kidney transplantation; cardiologist Dr. Dominique Williams on cardiovascular disease in women; thoracic surgical oncologist Dr. Brian Pettiford on robotic lung surgery; and Dr. Caroline Goldin, who discusses the treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors.
Barnes, known as the “Songbird of New Orleans,” is a Billboard Top 10-charting artist and Louisiana State Music Ambassador. Ochsner said her role is to help guide conversations that make specialized medical topics easier for a broad audience to understand.
Five additional episodes are scheduled to premiere later this year, the health system said.
Ochsner Health is the largest nonprofit healthcare provider in Louisiana, Mississippi and the Gulf South, operating 47 hospitals and more than 370 health and urgent care centers. The organization said its network includes more than 40,000 employees and 5,000 employed and affiliated physicians who cared for more than 1.6 million patients in 2025.
