Too much housing
Jul 01, 2026
Recently, in an interview about his influence in developing Park City into a world-renowned ski destination, Myles Rademan claimed that an attractive and inviting entryway into a tourist destination is vitally important. This is why he chose to preserve as open space the McPolin Farm and surroundin
g nature lands.
There are two traffic routes into Park City proper. Why is it that the S.R. 248 entryway is not getting the valued attention it needs?
The proposed development on the 5-acre parcel has been in local news a lot recently. As traffic comes into town on the entry corridor, S.R. 248, this 5-acre parcel is front and center. There are critics who have come out of the woodwork recently because, surprisingly, the surrounding area is evolving into an affordable housing development monster, thus community members are realizing the threat of what just another big urban-looking space is being proposed on this entry point land.
It seems left and right, affordable housing developments are now being proposed, and built, mostly in this eastern part of town, and it’s just become a fad. Just as worrisome as an unattractive entry corridor is the fact that home and commercial property values in this Prospector area are suffering, unlike the rest of Park City.
