Authorities are seeking a DoorDash food delivery driver who became embroiled in an argument with a worker for a third-party vendor at Amazon and fatally shot the 26-year-old worker late Sunday in south suburban Matteson, police said. The worker, who has not been identified, is from south suburban Gl enwood, police said. Police responded to a call of shots fired about 10:55 p.m. in an employee parking lot outside 7001 S. Vollmer Road, an Amazon fulfillment center that is open 24 hours, police said. Officers arrived within about three minutes and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso near the building's front entrance police said. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspected shooter, a DoorDash food delivery driver, had an argument that turned physical, during which the driver shot the victim several times, police said. Officers immediately applied a tourniquet and performed CPR until paramedics arrived, and the victim was taken by ambulance to St. James Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police and the medical examiner's office said. An autopsy is scheduled.The entire incident took place outside the Amazon facility, and police said they spoke to witnesses and reviewed surveillance footage leading up to the shooting, but a description of the attacker was not given.Matteson police continue to investigate and will work with South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force to identify and charge the shooter, who is not in custody, police said. "This is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public," police said in a statement. "We're working with the Matteson Police Department in their active investigation."The victim was not an employee of Amazon but worked there as an employee for a third-party vendor, according to Garcia.In a statement, DoorDash spokesperson Michelle Babin offered condolences and said they continue to work with police. "We are aware of an awful and senseless act of violence at the facility in Matteson.
