A 16-year-old was shot in the mouth in Philadelphia‘s Bridesburg neighborhood on Sunday night, police said. Officers responded to the 4500 block of Salmon Street for a report of a shooting inside a home at around 8:46 p.m., police said. According to Philadelphia Police Inspector DF Pace, t he teen was in the basement of a home with other teens as they handled firearms. At some point, a gun went off and shot the 16-year-old in the cheek area. The teen was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, police said. A gun was also recovered at the scene and a person of interest is in custody, Pace said. The person of interest has been described as another teen between 15 and 17. Pace added that there were several guns found inside the home and it is not yet clear who owned the gun that was fired. The entire home is being held as a crime scene as of around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, police said.
