Two homes damaged in Pottstown fire as investigators look for cause
Jun 28, 2026
Firefighters spent hours battling a fire that ripped through two homes in Pottstown, Montgomery County, on Saturday night.
The fire happened along Beech Street near Johnson Street around 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Yerger
said flames had already spread through two homes.
Yerger said crews had to contend with several propane tanks, along with what was described as “hoarding conditions.”
“We had several hot spots throughout the building that we just could not get to,” said Yerger. “There were blocked doorways, blocked windows, and there were a lot of challenges getting into the building. A lot of spaces where the fire was hiding, where we could not get to.”
Yerger added that, at this time, it is unclear whether all residents are accounted for.
More than 100 firefighters responded to the fire. One firefighter was taken to a hospital with a minor injury.
Yerger shared that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
