A recent op-ed in opposition to Senate Bill 847 stokes unwanted fears without offering solutions to the shortage of prescribing mental health prescribers in Hawaii (“There are no shortcuts in mental health,” Star-Advertiser, Island Voices, June 24). Due to a 60% shortage of psychiatrists and pre scribing advanced practice registered nurses, patients are typically waiting an average of three months to see a prescribing professional.
