A 36-year-old man has been hospitalized, police said, after he was shot while sitting in his car along a North Philly street early Saturday by a gunman who is believed to have fled the scene before returning to punch the injured victim in the face. According to police, the incident happened at a bout 5:15 a.m. along the 2200 block of North Palethorp Street when a 36-year-old man was shot at by a gunman, at least five times, as the victim sat in his vehicle along the roadway, striking him once in the back. Following the shooting, police believe the shooter fled the scene only to return just to punch the victim in the face before running off once again. The victim, officials said, was taken to a nearby hospital following this incident, but police were not immediately able to provide further information on his condition. Investigators believe both the victim and the suspected shooter live on the same block and got into a argument that may have led to the shooting, officials said. The suspected gunman is still on the loose, but officials told NBC10 an investigation is ongoing. This is a breaking news story.
