The Charlotte Hornets have been busy on the Thursday following the 2026 NBA Draft.
After trading All-Star guard LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Hornets moved quickly to re-sign a key piece of the team moving forward.
Coby White and the Hornets agreed to a three-year, $74 million con
tract, according to an ESPN report. He is expected to be the team’s starting point guard following the Ball trade.
The Hornets acquired White in a three-team trade this past February. Since joining Charlotte, the 26-year-old guard averaged 15.6 points and three assists per game across 21 contests while shooting 39.1% from three-point range.
White was born and raised in the Tar Heel State where he was the all-time leading scorer in North Carolina high school basketball history with 3,573 points. He was a five-star recruit and played college basketball at North Carolina.
With Ball headed to Minnesota, White will look to make his first start as a Hornet to kick off the 2026-27 season alongside Kon Knueppel, Brandon Miller, and Miles Bridges.
