A man was shot and killed in North Philadelphia on Tuesday evening, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told NBC10. The shooting occurred in the area of 32nd and Clearfield streets at around 8:30 p.m., Small said. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 24-year-old man layin g on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the head. The man was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:45 p.m., Small said. At the scene where the man was found, police have only found blood and no firearms or shell casings. The spot is also next to St. James School, and police are looking at the bushes and grass around there for more evidence, Small said. However, investigators believe there may have been only one gunshot fired. There are additional resources for people or communities that have endured gun violence in Philadelphia. Further information can be found here. Police real-time crime cameras did capture a man in all-black clothing approach the victim before the shooting took place, Small said, but no motive has been determined. Police are still looking for the suspect. Anyone with any information on the incident is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or anonymously online here. ...read more read less
