The rebuild of the Milwaukee Bucks is underway. Fresh off trading superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and forward Bobby Portis to Miami, general Jon Horst started the long road back to contention with a pair of picks in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday. With their own pick at No. 10, t he franchise grabbed Arizona guard Brayden Burries. Three spots later, the club picked Tennessee forward Nate Ament with one of the draft picks the Heat sent back as part of Monday’s blockbuster trade. Both players entered the draft after shining in their lone year in college. The 6-foot-4 Burries was an All-Big 12 first-team selection for a Wildcats squad that won the regular-season and conference tournament titles. The 20-year-old helped lead Arizona to its first Final Four appearance since 2001 while averaging 16.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. He also shot 39.1-percent from 3-point range. Ament was also productive in his only season in Knoxville. A Virginia native, Ament averaged 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for the Vols. Ranked as the No. 4 player in the entire 2025 recruiting class, the 6-foot-10 Ament was named second-team All-SEC as Tennessee made a run to the Elite Eight. He scored 20 or more points in 11 games and had three double-doubles. The draft will continue on Wednesday night, though the Bucks do not have a second-round pick. ...read more read less
