Donald Trump will present World Cup trophy at final, FIFA confirms

U.S. President Donald Trump will attend the World Cup final in New Jersey on July 19 and will help present the trophy to the winning team, FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed Tuesday.
Infantino said he and Trump will jointly hand the trophy to the captain of the champions, a notable shift f
rom recent tournaments, where the FIFA president alone handled the presentation.
“We will be together with the president, enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino told Fox Friends. “We are together all the time.”
Trump’s role comes months after Infantino awarded him the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize during the World Cup final draw in December 2025.
At both Qatar 2022 and Russia 2018, the trophy was presented solely by the sitting FIFA president. Heads of state have occasionally taken part in past decades — Spain’s King Juan Carlos handed the trophy to Italy captain Dino Zoff in 1982 and Queen Elizabeth II presented it to England captain Bobby Moore in 1966.
This also won’t be Trump’s first trophy moment at MetLife Stadium. Last July, he presented the Club Championship trophy to Chelsea after its win over Paris Saint‑Germain.

He has attended the U.S. Open men’s final, the Ryder Cup and most recently, the NBA Finals to support the Knicks.
The World Cup has kicked off across the United States, Canada and Mexico and New Jersey will stage eight matches, including the championship final.
