Company leaders, parish officials and economic development partners are scheduled to break ground Wednesday on a new 62,000-square-foot commercial laundry facility in Avondale. The project includes a $16.4 million facility and related investments that bring the total project value to $25.1 million.
The expansion is being supported through a partnership involving Loop Linen Service, the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana Economic Development, Bonvenu Bank, Regional Loan Corporation and other stakeholders.
Officials said the project will allow the company to modernize and expand its operations while positioning the business for future growth.
Founded in 1929 as a family laundry and dry-cleaning business, Loop Linen Service has evolved into a textile rental company serving customers across Louisiana and Mississippi. The company provides linen rental, uniform rental, dust-control and healthcare-related textile services.
The business employs more than 120 workers and serves nearly 1,400 customers from Lake Charles to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, including the Jackson and Hattiesburg markets.
Scott Burke, president of Loop Linen Service and a fourth-generation family owner, is expected to join local leaders and project partners for the groundbreaking ceremony.
Economic development officials said the project represents more than a business expansion. Infrastructure improvements tied to the development are expected to help prepare nearby acreage within Fairfield Business Park for future commercial and industrial projects.
JEDCO President and CEO Jerry Bologna said the investment underscores the value of retaining long-established businesses while creating opportunities for additional growth in Jefferson Parish.
The project is another example of ongoing investment along the West Bank and reflects broader efforts to strengthen industrial and business development opportunities in the Avondale area.
Loop Linen currently operates from a 32,500-square-foot facility and has expanded significantly over its nearly century-long history. The new facility will nearly double the company’s operational footprint and provide capacity for continued growth in the hospitality, healthcare and commercial service sectors.
