Christina Polek-Smith Credit: Courtesy Christina Marie Poleck-Smith, 69, of Westford, Vt., passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, in the loving care of her family, friends and the compassionate staff at the McClure Miller Respite House. Born on January 9, 1957, in Glens Falls, N.Y., Christi na spent her life doing what she loved most, caring for the people around her. Her family and friends were her whole world. She loved her children dearly and shared a deep and abiding love with her partner, Art. Christina was the kind of person who lit up a room. She was a jokester at heart, always playing little pranks just to coax a smile out of someone, and she had a generous heart that she gave freely. She had a remarkable gift for remembering the important dates in everyone’s life — birthdays, anniversaries — never letting a moment that mattered to someone she loved slip by unnoticed. She found beauty in everything she saw. She loved hunting for treasures at garage sales and collecting knickknacks, playing bingo, lacing up her roller skates, and listening to music and dancing. Above all, she loved Jesus, and her faith was a steady light throughout her life. Christina is survived by her partner, Art; her children, Tommy, Matt, Danny and Christina; her seven grandchildren, Evelyn, Mercedes, Selena, Orion, Shyanna, Kyle and Emanual; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Donna; her nieces Donna Lynn, Teonna and Tomi-Marie; and a great many caring friends, including her best friend, Linda, and neighbors who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Cecil Smith; her brother, Michael; her niece Mary; and her grand-nephew, Zachery. Christina’s warmth, her laughter and her endless love will be carried on by everyone whose life she touched. May she rest in peace.
