Firefighters quickly stopped forward progress of a 4-acre brush fire burning in the Rancho Bernardo area of San Diego on Monday afternoon. Large plumes of black smoke could be seen rising high into the sky over Lake Hodges and homes near it. By about 4 p.m., forward progress of the flames have been stopped, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department. The fire was held at 4 acres and firefighters continued to mop up the area afterwards. The flames were first reported at about 3:30 p.m., according to citizen reporting app, Watch Duty.
