Born: 05/31/1951 Bethesda, Maryland Died: 06/15/2026 Idaho Details of service: To be determined The world became a little quieter with the passing of Karen Ann Warren, 75, formerly of Winooski, Vermont, who died on Monday, June 15, in Idaho. Karen was a woman whose warmth, hu mor, and steady presence made life gentler for everyone fortunate enough to know her. Karen was born on May 31, 1951, in Bethesda, Maryland, to Kenneth W. and Ann McNeil Warren while her father was serving in the U.S. Navy. The family returned to Vermont in 1952, where Karen grew up surrounded by the people and places that would shape her life. She attended Burlington Schools, graduated from Rice Memorial High School, Class of 1969, and later studied at Woodbury College. Karen went on to build an entrepreneurial career, and she also spent time working in retail businesses, not for the work itself, but for the joy of being around people and working alongside her mother. After retiring, she devoted herself fully to the people she loved, becoming a dedicated caregiver first to her aunt, Norma McNeil Kirby, and then to her mother, Ann. Karen truly lived the spirit of the Ram Dass quote she cherished: “We’re all just walking each other home.” We will miss our “Big Sister.” She is survived by her sister Lori Warren; her “Little Brother,” Kyle Warren; her nieces Elizabeth and Kylie; and her cherished great nieces and nephews Joey, Anthony (“Ant”), Mia, Tommy, Red, and Lorelei. Finally, she leaves her dear friend Joanne Goyette of Waterbury, who has been part of our family since 1965. Karen was predeceased by her beloved grandfather “E.G.” in 1979; her brother Kevin in 1980; her father in 1990; her aunt Norma in 2006; and her mother in 2009. A service will take place later, at which time she will be laid to rest with her parents and her brother. Read the story on VTDigger here: Karen Ann Warren. ...read more read less
