A New Jersey man has been arrested and charged after police said he left the scene of a crash that killed two teens in Townsend, Delaware. According to the Delaware State Police, on Saturday, June 20, 2026, around 1 a.m., a 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, both from Townsend, Delaware, wer e walking with an electric bike near the left lane of southbound Dupont Parkway, south of Denny Lynn Drive. At the same time, police said a Nissan Altima was traveling southbound on Dupont Parkway toward the pedestrians.  Police said an investigation revealed that the Nissan struck both teens. Following the collision, the driver initially stopped but then continued traveling southbound, leaving the scene. Both of the teens were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. State troopers then found the Nissan traveling southbound on Dupont Parkway near Paddock Road in Smyrna and conducted a traffic stop, police said. The driver, identified as  23-year-old Nizaiah Ellis from Newfield, New Jersey, was then taken into custody. Ellis was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a collision that resulted in death and one count of failing to report a collision that resulted in death. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Delaware Department of Correction on a secured bond of $12,050, according to police.
