Tonight will stay fairly quiet for most areas, although a few isolated showers and thunderstorms could develop near the southern foothills, Park County, and the Palmer Divide. An increase in moisture behind a cold front may also bring more low clouds late tonight into early Saturday morning across parts of northeast Colorado. Saturday will turn warmer, with afternoon temperatures climbing into the mid 80s and lower 90s. Storm chances will increase during the afternoon, especially across the eastern plains, where some storms could become strong to severe. Large hail, damaging winds, and even an isolated tornado can't be ruled out, mainly east of the Denver metro area. Fire weather concerns will also increase in the mountains and valleys, with critical conditions expected. Another round of thunderstorms is expected Sunday as a cold front moves through the region. The eastern plains will once again have the best chance for stronger storms, with a few potentially reaching severe levels. Areas farther west, including the mountains and foothills, will stay drier with gusty west winds.Looking into early next week, the overall pattern won't change much. Moisture will continue to feed into the plains while drier air lingers over the higher terrain. This setup will support scattered showers and thunderstorms each afternoon and evening, especially across eastern Colorado. Hot temps and high fire danger return this weekendTemperatures next week should generally stay in the 80s, though Tuesday may be a little cooler with highs in the 70s. While there is still some uncertainty about exactly where storms will form each day, expect periodic chances for showers and thunderstorms through much of the week.DENVER WEATHER LINKS: Hourly forecast | Radars | Traffic | Weather Page | 24/7 Weather StreamClick here to watch the Denver7 live weather stream. ...read more read less
