Jackson Lahmeyer, the candidate backed by President Donald Trump in Oklahoma’s 1st Congressional District, is expected to drop out of the race one day after advancing to a runoff in the GOP primary, two sources familiar with the matter told NOTUS. He’s expected to make an announcement as soo n as Wednesday. The runoff set for Aug. 25 is to fill a seat being vacated by Republican Kevin Hern, who is running for Senate. Lahmeyer has told people he plans to drop out after the Daily Mail published text messages purported to show that he was flirting with a woman who is not his wife. But sources cautioned he could still change his mind. Lahmeyer — a pastor — did not respond to a text and call seeking comment. This is a developing story and will be updated.
