Hollywood On The Coast Food And Wine All Stars Converge Underneath The Fig Tree

An all-star lineup of LA chefs gathered under the huge, historic, nearly 150-year-old landmark Moreton Bay Fig Tree at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel Bungalows in Santa Monica over the weekend for the inaugural Hollywood on the Coast Food Wine festival.
At the helm of this year’s event was host
Chef Neal Fraser from Redbird and Vibiana and the bold and diverse tasting journey took place alongside a collection of beverage offerings, including Eminent Wineries Fun Mom Wines, Grosso Kresser Vineyard, Patiné Cellars, Saracina, and Taub Family Vineyards; Premier Spirits Luna Nueva Tequila, El Negocio Tequila and SKORPIOS 1618; Handcrafted Cocktails Knox Dobson and Rancho La Gloria; and non-alcoholic craft brewery RationAle.

Fraser served up New Caledonian shrimp and grits with cocoa nib chipotle mole next to fellow LA local chef Raphael Lunetta, who was grilling New York steaks with a sweet summer corn confit and white wine au jus
Josiah Citrin of Mélisse | Citrin made King Salmon in red wine velouté while Chef Govind Armstrong from The Lobster was shucking chilled East Coast oysters with a peach and jalapeno mignonette.
Chef Tal Ronnen from the plant-based Crossroads Kitchen served delicate porcini mushroom faux foie gras with pickled ramps topped with a Luxardo cherry.
Poached wild-caught tiger prawns with shaved Santa Barbara uni were on the menu from Chef Frank Ryan Saporito of Wife and the Somm, and Chef John Sungkamee of Emporium Thai | Emporium Thai Market was handing out Thai crab curry.

Vegetarian avocado dahi puri was on the menu from nearby Fitoor’s Chef Imran Khan and Chef Joseph Cook from the hotel’s FIG Restaurant didn’t have to travel far to serve seared scallops with brown butter and coconut ponzu in a green curry coconut tuile.
All proceeds from the Hollywood on the Coast Food Wine evening benefited the Variety Children’s Charity of Southern California, which provides support and resources to children with special needs and their families, and the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, celebrating 90 years of supporting the motion picture community, offering financial assistance and services to industry professionals in times of hardship.
