Indiana Right to Life Backs EPA Review of Abortion Drugs in Water Supply
Jun 12, 2026
INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): Indiana Right to Life is supporting a call for a federal review of abortion drugs that may enter public water systems.
The organization said it backs a request for the Environmental Protection Agency to investigate whether abortion medications could pose potential risks to w
ater quality and public health.
Indiana Right to Life President Mike Fichter said the group’s concerns center on the increasing use of abortion pills obtained through the mail and the possibility that drug residues could enter wastewater systems.
Fichter said the organization wants federal regulators to study any potential environmental or health impacts and determine whether additional safeguards are needed. The EPA has not announced any findings related to the request.
