Smoke visible from fire burning on Camp Pendleton near Oceanside
Jun 10, 2026
A brush fire sparked on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Wednesday and grew to about 75 acres in an hour, Oceanside police said.
The fire was reported around 10:30 a.m. on the military installation neighboring the city of Oceanside. Camp Pendleton officials said the fire was located in the Novemb
er Training Area near Wire Mountain Housing.
Evacuation warnings were issued for the nearby Oceanside Municipal Golf Course and some surrounding neighborhoods. An evacuation point was established at El Camino High School at 400 Rancho Del Oro. An evacuation warning means people should be prepared to leave on a moment’s notice if an order is issued.
No evacuation notices were issued for housing on the base, according to Camp Pendleton.
A plume of smoke could be seen from miles away on SkyRanger 7 cameras. A smoke advisory was issued for Camp Pendelton, Oceanside, Bonsall, and Fallbrook by the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District.
This is a developing story. Details may change as information is released.
