Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park opens its summer season June 11 with William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, a production that embraces the natural beauty of the Shakespeare Gardens as part of the storytelling. Directed by David Weber, the play runs through June 28 and explores themes of power, fo rgiveness and transformation through the story of Prospero, a magician stranded on an island with his daughter Miranda after being exiled from his homeland. Weber’s production leans into the unpredictability of outdoor theater, allowing Oklahoma’s summer evenings to become part of the experience. Wind, twilight and the sounds of the gardens help create the magical atmosphere that surrounds Prospero, Ariel and the island’s other inhabitants. Lance Marsh as Prospero, Miriam Eleanor Worley as Miranda, Garett Lacy as Ariel and Paxton Kliewer as Caliban. Performances are scheduled Thursdays through Sundays at 8 p.m. in the Shakespeare Gardens, 2920 Paseo. Tickets range from $25 to $50 and are available through Oklahoma Shakespeare.
