NEWTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A now-former police officer was convicted of murder on Thursday after he killed a man on a motorcycle during a chase through Catawba County last summer.  Court records show Carlos Uribe, 29, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of 2 1-year-old Camden Childers. He was initially charged with first-degree murder.
