A pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to change a tire in York County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. It happened Wednesday night around 10:35 p.m. on SC 161 near Rocky Creek Road in York, South Carolina. Troopers said a pedestrian, later identified as 54-year-old Mic hael Kerns, was outside in the median on SC 161 attempting to change a tire on his vehicle. According to the highway patrol, a westbound Lexus sedan struck Kerns and the car. Kerns died at the scene. No other injuries were reported. Pathology and toxicology reports are pending.
