3 men hospitalized in Kensington triple shooting, police say
Jun 04, 2026
Three men were recovering in the hospital, police said, after being shot in a triple shooting that happened in Philadelphia’s Kensington community early Thursday.
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small the incident happened just after 2 a.m., when officers went to the 600
block of East Wishart Street in Kensington to find a man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers were there “within seconds,” he noted, saying they were on patrol just about a block away and heard the gunfire.
This man was taken to the hospital where, Small said, he was listed in stable condition.
However, later in the evening, as officers were investigation at the scene, investigators learned that two other victims of this same shooting arrived at a Philadelphia hospital after being driven there in a private vehicle that fled after dropping them off, Small said.
These victims, a 19-year-old man and a 26-year-old man, were both hospitalized in stable condition after suffering gunshot wounds to their arms, Small said.
At the scene, Small said, investigators recovered 10 spent shell casings. Also, he said, at the intersection of G Street and Kensington Avenue, officers found the vehicle believed to have taken two of the victims in this shooting to the hospital.
In that vehicle, investigators found a handgun in plain view along with noticeable bloodstains throughout the vehicle, Small said.
However, investigators did not immediately determine how the shooting occurred, nor did they provide a description of the suspected gunman — or gunmen — or detail a motive in this incident, noted Small.
But, he said, an investigation was ongoing and officers were reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
