A Florida family is suing the Campbell Soup Company after they discovered “what appeared to be worms or parasites actively moving” with their SpaghettiOs. Mary Hubbard purchased the SpaghettiOs from a Walmart Supercenter in Okeechobee, Florida and prepared for them for her and her daughter fo r dinner on June 6, 2024. After they began eating, Hubbard said she saw organisms moving in the soup, which she captured on video. In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida on Tuesday, Hubbard says she suffered from a parasitic infection, gastrointestinal illness, sepsis, hepatic injury and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, anemia and PTSD. Her daughter, identified by the initials P.L., experienced nausea, vomiting and a parasitic infection. Campbell’s SpaghettiOs pasta Gregory Lovell is included in the lawsuit as a fellow parent or guardian of P.L. The lawsuit seeks damages of at least $75,000 from Campbell’s and Walmart Inc., also a defendant, for the contamination and injuries, and asks a trial by jury. Campbell’s released a statement in response to the accusations saying, “We do not comment on pending litigation, but we believe the claims to be without merit, and we intend to vigorously defend against these allegations.” Walmart has also released a statement saying, “The health and safety of our customers is a top priority. We are reviewing the complaint and will respond appropriately to the Court.” ...read more read less
