Park City police blotter: A ‘party bus’ becomes stuck in Old Town

The Park City Police Department in late May received information about a driver having difficulty navigating a tightly packed intersection in Old Town.
On Saturday, May 30, at 11:48 p.m., a driver reportedly became “stuck going up the hill” in the area of Marsac Avenue and Hillside Avenue. T
he vehicle was described as a “party bus,” and the road was blocked by the vehicle at the time of the report. A mechanic was summoned, the police said.
Marsac Avenue at the location is a heavily used route to Deer Valley, while Hillside Avenue is a tiny street in the southern reaches of Old Town.

On Sunday, May 31, at 10:47 p.m., a man, described as homeless, was apparently seen in the area of a Main Street restaurant. A little bit earlier, at 9:29 p.m., a man who was described as homeless was reported in an unspecified location in Park City.
The Police Department at 10:10 p.m. received a report of two women in a parking lot on Monitor Drive “yelling and laughing extremely loud,” according to public police logs. There had been similar issues previously, the police were apparently told. The department logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
Water was reported to be “gushing out of the ground” on Stonebridge Circle at 6:44 p.m. The police said the case involved a utility issue.
The police at 12:56 p.m. received a report of seven men near a bench on Prospector Avenue in the area of the Rail Trail outside of a restaurant. The men were drinking beer and urinating.
Someone at 11:01 a.m. told the police a man was attempting to “pass out beer” to people at the Old Town transit center.
A deer carcass was reported on the road on Deer Valley Drive or Marsac Avenue at 10:27 a.m.
The Police Department received information about a party at 12:45 a.m. on Aspen Springs Drive. The people were “getting really rowdy, drinking and yelling,” the police were told.
At 12:34 a.m., someone at a Main Street restaurant-bar reportedly screamed profanities. The person was wearing camouflage shorts and a winter jacket, the police were told. The agency logged the case as suspected disorderly conduct.
On Saturday, May 30, at 10:51 p.m., a party was reported on Claim Jumper Court. The person who contacted the police indicated the residence is otherwise vacant. The police logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
The Police Department at 4:03 p.m. received a report about a “strip of asphalt” described as being cut out on S.R. 248. The person who contacted the police said the section of asphalt was up to 10 inches wide and 5 inches deep. The person was worried a motorcyclist would drive over the spot, according to public police logs. The police described the issue as a traffic hazard.
On Friday, May 29, at 11:09 p.m., a suspected drunken driving case was reported on S.R. 224 in the area of Saddle View Way. Public police logs did not provide details.
Someone on Park Avenue at 10:56 p.m. reported a noise that appeared to be a gunshot. There was also a light near a tree, the police were told. The Police Department described the circumstances as suspicious.
A vehicle at 6:41 p.m. was obstructing a pedestrian route in the area of Swede Alley and 5th Street. The driver apparently told the police the vehicle would be moved within 10 minutes.
Bicyclists at 2:54 p.m. were reported to be trespassing on Royal Street. The police were told the bicyclists were using stairs located on private property. They were “ruining the stairs with their cleats,” according to public police logs. A similar case was reported on Royal Street a little bit earlier.
The Police Department at 12:32 p.m. received a complaint on Kearns Boulevard about “black thick smoke pouring out of” a truck “every time the truck accelerates.”
A goose family was reported at 8:57 a.m. on Meadows Drive headed in the direction of S.R. 224. The person who contacted the police apparently directed the birds to a grassy area close to a trailhead, according to department logs.
A driver collided with a deer at 12:50 a.m. on S.R. 248 close to the Park City School District campus. Nobody was injured, but it was not clear where the deer was afterward. A deer was seen at 1:22 a.m. on the state highway, however.
On Thursday, May 28, at 4:50 p.m., a driver reported the vehicle ran out of gasoline on Kearns Boulevard and was partially blocking a travel lane. The police said the vehicle created a traffic hazard.
The Police Department at 1:32 p.m. received a report of a hit-and-run accident on Park Avenue. The accident occurred five minutes before the report to the police. A vehicle backed into another one and left, the police were told.
On Wednesday, May 27, at 4:47 p.m., a driver in a Jeep reportedly swerved and nearly hit another vehicle on Sidewinder Drive.
On Tuesday, May 26, at 8:52 a.m., an officer pulled over a driver on Monitor Drive, indicating the person did not yield as emergency vehicles passed. Public police logs did not provide details about whether the driver received a ticket or a warning.
On Monday, May 25, at 10:44 p.m., loud people were reported in a hot tub on Lowell Avenue. The police were told there was an issue for two consecutive nights. The department logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
Someone at 9:34 a.m. reported broken glass on the Main Street roadway and “all over the sidewalk.”
