JEDCO and the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce will host a professional development seminar later this month focused on emotional intelligence and its role in improving workplace communication, leadership and team performance.
The event, part of the organizations’ Prosper Jefferson seminar series, is scheduled for June 24 at the JEDCO Conference Center in Avondale. Organizers said the session is designed for businesses, entrepreneurs and professionals seeking practical strategies to manage workplace challenges, strengthen collaboration and improve employee engagement.
The seminar will run from 9-10:30 a.m. at 701A Churchill Parkway. Registration costs $12.50 and includes breakfast.
According to JEDCO and the Jefferson Chamber, the program will cover core components of emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, empathy, conflict management and stress reduction. Participants will also learn techniques aimed at improving workplace morale and communication among teams.
The session comes as employers across industries place greater emphasis on workplace culture, employee retention and leadership development amid evolving workforce expectations.
The seminar will feature presentations from business consultants Ronnie Slone and Melissa Willis.
Slone is founder and president of The Slone Group, a consulting firm focused on organizational development and training. He has more than 30 years of experience in operations management, human resources and professional staffing, and also serves as an instructor for the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Delgado Community College and Babson College.
Willis, owner of Melissa Willis Coaching Consulting, has worked as a speaker and business coach since 1998. Her experience includes consulting for entrepreneurs and organizations on marketing, systems management and business growth strategies.
JEDCO, the economic development arm of Jefferson Parish, said the seminar aligns with its broader mission of supporting business growth and workforce development in the region. The Jefferson Chamber, a membership-based business advocacy organization, represents businesses across Jefferson Parish and focuses on economic development, networking and public policy initiatives.
