A woman died after being hit by a van while walking in the East Oak Lane area early Friday, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. According to police, the woman was struck by a white Sprinter van around 6:55 a.m. while walking near the intersection of North 5th Street and Chelten Avenu e. The woman was transported to Einstein Medical Center, where she died about an hour later, police said. Officials did not identify the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
