A 17-year-old boy is recovering after suffering serious injuries in a shark bite incident off the coast of Galveston on Monday afternoon, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. Officials said the teen was boating with his father and another person when the incident happened. The Coast Guard said t he group was heading back toward Galveston when their boat became disabled. After the shark bit the teen, his father applied a tourniquet before rescue crews arrived, officials said. The Coast Guard responded to the scene and transported the teen and his father to awaiting EMS crews. Officials said the 17-year-old was conscious and alert during the rescue and was taken to a Galveston hospital for treatment.
