It’s already time for OTAs. The Eagles began their offseason workout program back on April 20 and had their rookie minicamp the weekend after the draft. Now it’s time for Phase 3 of the NFL’s offseason workout plan with Organized Team Activities (OTAs). These practices are non-padded but it’s our first chance to see most of the team on the field together in 2026. Here are the dates of their spring practices: OTAs: May 26-27, May 29, June 1-2, June 4 Mandatory minicamp: June 9-10 The only mandatory days of the spring come in the form of that minicamp in June. As a reminder, everything until then is technically voluntary. But the Eagles are expected to have strong attendance. Here are some key storylines this spring: A new offensive coordinator Despite having plenty of talent last year, the Eagles finished 19th in points and 24th in total offense in 2025. That obviously wasn’t good enough. The Eagles admitted that when they moved on from former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo after just one season. Head coach Nick Sirianni went through an exhaustive search for the next OC, interviewing a total of 17 different candidates. During that process, Sirianni decided he wanted to bring in someone who has a background in the Shanahan style of offense. And, eventually, the Eagles landed on Sean Mannion. Mannion has been coaching for just two seasons but was a backup quarterback in the NFL for nine seasons. So when the Eagles announced the hire, it was notable that they touted his “11 years” of NFL experience. That was not a throwaway line in the release. The Eagles are projecting Mannion to be really good at this new job but there are no guarantees and that will make watching his progress fascinating. The Eagles are going to have to install a whole new offense and that isn’t going to happen overnight. But if Mannion really is going to run many of the staples of a Shanahan scheme, then the Eagles’ offense is going to look very different in 2026. We should at least start to see some hints of that early in the process in OTAs. This will be something to watch again at training camp as we get closer to the start of the season. The trade that hasn’t happened yet If you don’t want to read about A.J. Brown, I get it. Just keep it moving to the next subhead. But OTAs are beginning in late May and it still seems likely that Brown will get traded after June 1 when a trade becomes more palatable from a cap perspective. A pre-June 1 trade would have made Brown’s cap hit for this season balloon, while a post-June 1 trade will split up his dead cap charges over this season and next. So if the Eagles do trade Brown in June, they’ll actually save $7 million cap space in 2026. Brown would account for around $16 million in dead money this year and over $27 million in dead money next year. If a trade is coming down in early June, it wouldn’t make much sense for Brown to be at this voluntary practices. Without Brown this season, DeVonta Smith will assume the WR1 spot, followed by Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, Hollywood Brown and more. A health update The Eagles 2025 season wasn’t as long as they would have hoped but at least that should have given some players extra time to heal. There are several players coming back from injuries and we’ll at least see if they’re on the field for OTAs. Both Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson went to Colombia for stem cell treatments and the health of both of them is huge for 2026. Jihaad Campbell might be out until at least training camp with a shoulder injury and Drew Mukuba finished last season on IR with an ankle injury. We’ll at least see who is on the field at OTAs. There’s no reason to panic yet but it’s the first chance to get a sense of the heath of the team. The position battles • Safety: Safety is the weakest position on the entire roster after Reed Blankenship left for Houston in free agency. Drew Mukuba is entering his second NFL season and is presumably one of the starters at the position. But after that? For now, it looks like it could be Marcus Epps vs. Michael Carter II for that position with Epps as the front-runner. Could someone else like Andre’ Sam or JT Gray get in the mix? What about rookie Cole Wisniewski? This is a position where the Eagles might want to see their options but will be willing to make a trade or sign a veteran down the line. • Wide receiver: Even if A.J. Brown isn’t on the team in 2026, the Eagles have depth. We know DeVonta Smith will be the WR1 and rookie Makai Lemon will have a big role. But there will be a bunch of players fighting for roles, starting with Dontayvion Wicks and Hollywood Brown. After that, there are guys like Darius Cooper, Johnny Wilson, Elijah Moore and more fighting for roster spots and plying time. • Backup OL: While the Eagles’ starting five — Jordan Mailata, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Tyler Steen, Lane Johnson — is set, there are some battles for backup positions. Fred Johnson returns as the Eagles’ swing tackle but the team did draft massive OT Markel Bell in the third round. Brett Toth left in free agency, so the Eagles are a little lighter on the interior. Is Drew Kendall ready for that top backup job? After that, there are a bunch of young players fighting for roster spots: Myles Hinton, Cameron Williams, Willie Lampkin, Hollin Pierce, Micah Morris, Jake Majors, John Ojukwu, Jaeden Roberts. Welcome to Philly We saw the Eagles’ rookies in uniform at rookie camp the weekend after the draft. But this week will be our first chance to see the veteran additions on the field. So we’ll get our first on-field glimpses of Jonathan Greenard, Riq Woolen, Dontayvion Wicks and more. As a reminder, here are the jersey numbers for the veteran additions: Hollywood Brown: 0Andy Dalton: 14Arnold Ebiketie: 17J.T.
