A man is facing a murder charge after his aunt was found stabbed to death in her Lumbertown Township home, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Sunday. The investigation began, prosecutors said, after 60-year-old Vanessa Sturtevent was found dead by a relative on the afternoo n of Friday, May 22, in her apartment at the Sterling Glen Apartments on Eayrestown Road. An autopsy later found that Sturtevent died from stab wounds to her head and neck, as well as blunt force trauma to her face and head. Sturtevent’s nephew, 40-year-old Jason Mutschler of Hainesport, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody after being questioned by investigators, prosecutors said. Mutschler is facing a murder charge, as well as possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, prosecutors said. He remains in custody as he awaits a detention hearing, as well as a grand jury decision on his possible indictment.
