Alamo Heights Greek restaurant locked out over alleged unpaid rent

After less than a year in Alamo Heights, a promising Mediterranean restaurant appears to be headed for permanent closure. Grandma’s Greek Taste at 5130 Broadway has been locked out of the Stewart Center due to alleged rent default and “related obligations.”Houston real estate firm Fifth Corner
posted the notice on May 8, addressing the complaint to owner Saimir Pllana. It’s unclear whether the restaurant will remain shuttered; its Google Business profile says the closure is temporary.Grandma’s opened in late June 2025, taking over the former home of Pinch Boil House. The acclaimed Viet-Cajun restaurant called it quits the previous April as owners Andrew Ho and Sean Wen underwent a significant expansion of their Curry Boys BBQ brand.Grandma’s offered a fast-casual menu of popular dishes like gyros, hummus, beef souvlaki, and falafel. Though a few Yelp reviewers disagreed, most praised the food, the quaint atmosphere, and the friendly staff.Fifth Corner, with partner Headwall Investments, has only been the owner of the Alamo Heights shopping center since March, saying in a release that it would “focus on maintaining a cohesive and high-quality environment aligned with the surrounding community.”
