After a decade of shining the spotlight on Texas food, TV host Tanji Patton is 86ing Goodtaste With Tanji. The San Antonio media fixture will retire the long-running culinary series at the end of the current season to focus on her faith-based podcast.“I’ve made one of the biggest decisions of my career…” wrote Patton in a social media announcement. “There are so many mixed emotions, but they all come from a very good place and are leading into an exciting new chapter in our Goodtaste world.”Patton first launched Goodtaste with husband Mike Patton in 2008, initially operating it as an online series and magazine. The project became a syndicated show in 2016 and has since run 11 seasons, broadcast on 17 stations across Texas, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.Before exploring her passion for food and wine, she was an investigative reporter covering everything from the Pentagon to the child adoption process. During her 17-year tenure at News 4 San Antonio, she helped launch San Antonio Living and anchored the 6 and 10 pm newscasts.Patton said Goodtaste will continue to be a family business. Her son, Cash Patton, will be charged with growing Goodtaste for the Soul. The podcast already has more than 70 episodes with a few heavy hitters like Lidia Bastianich and Bun B mixed in with theological leaders and a few more controversial figures like Texas State Rep Shelley Luther and Goya CEO Bob Unanue.
