A brush fire is burning near train tracks in North Philadelphia on Wednesday. Léelo en español aquí The brush fire started sometime after 1 p.m. on May 20 near Amtrak tracks at 12th Street and Glenwood Avenue. A spokesperson for SEPTA told NBC10 that the tracks are owned by Amtrak and us ed by SEPTA. According to SEPTA, officials with Amtrak informed them about a brush fire near the tracks so SEPTA has one train being held at the North Philadelphia Station while the transit agency waits for more information. In a post on social media, Amtrak announced that trains running between Philadelphia and New York City may experience delays as crews work near the tracks. The Philadelphia Fire Department said that there are 200 firefighters battling two brush fires in the city SkyForce10 was over the scene where red flames could be seen burning as firefighters poured water on the area. The fire appeared to be coming from cars parked in a lot near the tracks. Some of the cars looked like they were being completely destroyed by the blaze. NBC10 crews are heading to the scene as we work to learn more. No word yet on what caused the fire or if anyone was hurt. This is a developing story.
