Four comedy venues are uniting with the City of Philadelphia to designate the 2000 block of Sansom Street as “Philly’s Funniest Block.” The initiative brings together four neighboring venues: ComedySportz Philadelphia, Helium Comedy Club, MacGuffin Theatre, and SideQuest Theater to make tha t block a destination for live comedy, performance and community celebration ahead of America’s 250th anniversary. “Just like Philadelphians think of Jewelers’ Row when they want a diamond, we want them to think of Philly’s Funniest Block when they want a laugh,” said Block. A free community celebration will take place on Saturday, June 13, featuring comedy performances, interactive activities, neighborhood specials, giveaways, and more. The celebration’s centerpiece will be a ribbon-cutting and City Citation Ceremony featuring remarks from Philadelphia Councilmember Rue Landau.
