May 18, 2026
With the FIFA World Cup and FIFA Fan Festival events set to hit Philadelphia, SEPTA has unveiled new services in order to be able to support the influx of fans of the beautiful game that are expected to be in town for the events.
On Monday, SEPTA officials provided details on how the service is
preparing to provide transportation to FIFA World Cup events in the city, that will be held from June 11 through July 19, 2026.
During the six matches set to be held as part of FIFA World Cup and the FIFA Fan Festival at Lemon Hill, SEPTA officials said, the mass transit provider will provide additional services for riders.
“We are thrilled to accommodate the thousands of visitors expected to take our system for safe, reliable, and convenient service to the FIFA World Cup events,” said SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer in a statement. “SEPTA’s robust multimodal network was a key factor in Philadelphia’s selection as a host city, and we are ready to rise to the occasion.”

For each match in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, SEPTA officials said, the mass transit provider will offer extra trips along the Broad Street Line trips to and from NRG Station.
The expected ridership for each match is approximately 31,000, and SEPTA officials said the service expects to be able to move about 15,000 people per hour on the Broad Street Line — or, the “B” — with the extra service and capacity.
On match days, officials said the Broad Street Line and the Market-Frankford Line — the “L” — will operate overnight, with trains running every 30 minutes to select stations.
Service for the FIFA Fan Festival at Lemon Hill
Along with service to upcoming matches, SEPTA plans to provide additional service for Bus Routes 32 and 48, which serve the Lemon Hill area for the FIFA Fan Festival.
During the Philadelphia’s FIFA Fan Festival — which is free and open to the public and will run from June 11 through July 19, 2026 at Lemon Hill in East Fairmount Park — there will be weekday bus service every 15 minutes or less, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Also, for those who live near Lemon Hill, there will be temporary residential parking permits required during the FIFA World Cup.
Costs for riding SEPTA during the FIFA World Cup
During the upcoming FIFA World Cup, officials said costs for riding the Broad Street Line to matches will be the same cost as any other trip on that line — $2.90.
Also, for fans heading home from NRG Station following matches, Airbnb will be picking up the tab for rides on SEPTA’s Broad Street Line, starting at halftime and ending two hours after each match concludes.
And, throughout upcoming events, SEPTA will have ambassadors working at select trains across its system to help fans commuting to and from events.
