Oakland’s city administrator resigned after allegations of unprofessional behavior, according to city officials on Sunday. Mayor Barbara Lee says she met with now former City Administrator Jestin Johnson this weekend and accepted his resignation. Lee says she heard about “degrading and unp rofessional communications” involving Johnson, so the city conducted an investigation. In a statement, the mayor says that investigation verified those communications that she called “wholly incompatible with the values of this administration and those of the people of Oakland.” She continued to say, “under my watch, I will not tolerate transgressions of this nature.” The assistant city administrator is now serving as acting administrator.
