A 20-year-old moped rider died after being struck by a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon in Northeast Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. Police said the crash happened at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, at the intersection of Aramingo Avenue and Tioga Street. Officials said preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a black Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound on Aramingo Avenue when they tried to make a left turn onto Tioga Street. As the pickup truck was turning, it hit the moped, which was traveling southbound. The moped rider was identified by police as 20-year-old Jadin Samuel Aviles. First responders rushed Aviles to Temple University Hospital, where he died around 8:20 p.m., according to police.
