The Miners boys lacrosse team entered the playoffs 14-3 and as the top seed in 5A.  Park City didn’t let the bright lights of Westminster University’s Dumke Field or the do-or-die circumstances of the playoffs stall their momentum Thursday as they took on Northridge in the second round. The 16 seed advanced to face the Miners by taking down 17 seed Maple Mountain on Tuesday.  It took Park City a few minutes to first find the back of the Northridge net Thursday, but once they opened the floodgates they wouldn’t be closed. Junior star Henry Alnwick had the first goal, the first of what would be a hat trick, with just over seven minutes left in the first quarter. The Miners closed the first quarter up 8-0 and the first half up 14-0.  Seniors Hunter Hutchison and Jesse Dittmer and sophomore Crew Kimble joined Alnwick with hat tricks of their own in what ended as a 18-0 win for Park City. Alnwick also added three assists.  Park City senior Hunter Hutchison had a hat trick in the win. Persky knows that experience will pay off later on this season or in their careers.  Park City now turns their attention to non-region rival Olympus. The two teams have faced off each of the last four postseasons, with the Miners winning each game. Park City defeated Olympus in the 2022 and 2023 state title games.  The Miners will face rival Olympus on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Westminster University’s Dumke Field. Park City beat them 8-4 on the road April 28.  Because Olympus is well coached and competitive, Persky is focused on his team being disciplined and sticking to their game.  The Miners girls lacrosse team is playing their quarterfinal game against Payson on Dumke Field at 11 a.m. Saturday. Playing before the boys team again Thursday, Persky was grateful of the strong crowd the girls rallied and kept enthralled.  “The boys love watching and supporting the girls,” Persky said. “And love it when the girls watch and support us. It’s really nice to see Park City represented so well … They (the girls team) play as a team, strong and very competitive, and it’s a good precedent for our boys.” The post Miners boys lacrosse dominates Northridge to advance in playoffs appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
