Two children were hospitalized on Thursday evening after a neighbor’s dog attacked them, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. A 3-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister were playing in front of their house around 6 p.m. on the 3300 block of Water Street in North Philadelphia when a dog ran out of its home on May 14, Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. The dog ran across the street toward them and then started to attack and bite the children, Small explained. The mother of the children was sitting on their front porch and saw the attack happen, according to Small. When officers got to the scene, they found the siblings who were conscious, Small reported. The boy had been bitten on his arm and leg while his sister had been bitten on the face and arm. Both children were taken to a nearby hospital where they were placed in stable condition, officials said. After the attack, the dog then ran back into its house and has since been placed into a cage and the owner is being questioned by animal control, officials said. This is a developing story.
