As of Thursday, May 14, 2026, AAA reports the average for regular gas is $4.53 nationwide, and here in South Carolina drivers are paying $4.19 a gallon. AAA says the highest average ever recorded in the stat e is $4.60 a gallon in 2022 following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
