Founder of Kamasbased Dash Adventures killed in Himalayan avalanche

Mountaineering organizations are reporting that Kamas-based Dash Adventures founders Shelley Johannesen and David Ashley were caught in an avalanche Sunday while descending the Himalayan peak Mount Makalu, and Johannesen was killed.

atment in Katmandu, Gripped magazine reported Monday.
The pair along with along with Tawa Sherpa and Phurba Sonam Sherpa reached the 8,485-meter peak the previous day.
According to Gripped: “At approximately 7,000 meters, a section of the mountain fixed with 300-400 meters of rope gave way. The avalanche struck just below Camp 3, catching all four members of the party.”
Johannesen succumbed to her injuries at the site, according to observers. Phurba Sonam Sherpa was rescued from the site by nearby climbers who saw the incident from nearby Camp 2.
