CATAWBA CO., N.C. – A Catawba County teacher is facing two misdemeanor counts of child assault and abuse. Deputies say they began investigating 42-year-old Christina McCarthy after an incident involving a student under the age of 12 on May 8th. McCarthy is a teacher at Catawba Elementary School .
