Witness video captures DART police shooting at Victory Station
May 11, 2026
Dallas Area Rapid Transit is investigating an officer-involved shooting at Victory Station near the American Airlines Center.
The shooting happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at the train stop in Victory Park. DART confirmed its police department was involved and said no officers or bystanders
were injured.
A nearby resident said he heard a sudden burst of gunfire and captured part of the confrontation on video.
“Out of the blue, around 5:30, there’s probably 20 to 30 rounds of gunfire that were exchanged,” said Victory Park resident Jerrod Walla.
Walla said he ran onto his balcony after hearing the gunfire and saw the aftermath unfold below.
“I didn’t see him at first, but there’s a guy on the ground and he was obviously hit by gunfire. They ran over to him, kicked what looked like a gun out of his hand,” said Walla.
Walla said the man appeared to be conscious and was speaking with police and paramedics after the shooting.
The incident comes as some residents and riders say they have noticed an increase in safety concerns in the area.
“You know, it’s, unfortunately there’s been more and more incidents in the Victory Park area over the past couple of months, with just tons of different gunshots I’ve heard,” Walla said.
Frequent DART riders say they have also noticed issues with fare enforcement and security presence on trains.
“I would say about four days out of the week, every other week, my wife and I kind of ride on the weekends. I would say weekends are not as safe, you get some people in there riding for free,” said DART rider Satchel Strahm.
Strahm said he feels safer sitting closer to conductors while riding.
“If you get into the back and sometimes they’re not checking very often, you get some unsavory characters hanging about,” said Strahm.
Despite repeated requests, DART has not released additional details about what led up to the shooting or the identities of those involved.
While the investigation continues, Walla said he was reassured by the police response he witnessed.
“It’s nice knowing that there is somebody out there that’s protecting the citizens,” Walla said.
